Answer to Question 1

When a surplus or deficiency of electrons on the surface of a material exists, static electricity is produced. This type of electricity is called static because there is no positive material nearby to attract the electrons and cause them to move.

Answer to Question 2

Gas Metal Arc Welding. This type of welding is often referred to as MIG welding. The process is based on maintaining an electric arc between an electrode and the work surface and shielding the arc with a gas, which may or may not be inert. The wire electrode is fed to the weld continuously where it melts creating the weld.
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding. This type of welding is often referred to as TIG welding. The process is similar to MIG welding except the tungsten electrode is not consumed. Instead there is a consumable welding rod introduced into the process.
