Answer to Question 1

It is important for construction firms to provide worker's compensation insurance to its employees because it is required in all of the fifty states, as set forth by Worker's Compensation Acts. Worker's compensation is paid by employers based on a different multiplier for each craft times the wages earned by the workers in each craft into a government fund and it covers employees when they sustain a personal injury or contract a disease and there is a direct causal relationship between the work environment and the disease contracted by the employee.

Answer to Question 2

Summary jury trials could help influence disputants to settle their claims before their case is heard in a court of law because they are mock trials. Attorneys are used and they summarize the cases and the evidence and present them to a jury that renders an opinion. The opinion of the jury is then passed along to a judge and the judge presides over the negotiations until a settlement is agreed upon by both parties. After the mock trial, both of the disputants will know how a jury might settle the case and this knowledge is used by the judge to influence the disputants to try to settle the case during negotiations.
