Answer to Question 1

Exothermic chemical reactions create heat. Combustion and fire are exothermic reactions and can often generate large quantities of heat. Endothermic reactions consume more heat than they generate. An ongoing fire usually provides its own source of heat.

Answer to Question 2

The fuel gas and oxygen hose must be easily and clearly distinguishable from each other. They may be distinguished using differed colors or different surface textures on the hoses. In addition, the oxygen and gas hoses must not be interchangeable.
