Answer to Question 1

The ecliptic is high in the summer during the day because the ecliptic is the sun's path. The ecliptic on a summer night is low in the sky because the sun will not be in that part of the sky until winter.

Answer to Question 2

The Uniform Solar Energy Code lists plumbing and mechanical requirements, including installation, inspection, and maintenance of solar energy systems. It covers both solar hot water and PV systems, including various components (storage tanks, heat exchangers) and specifies requirements for installing systems in locations where freezing temperatures are possible. Other requirements of USEC include waterproofing when a solar collector is installed on a building structure to avoid water leakage problems.
