Answer to Question 1

The direction of rotation can be reversed or the polarity of the field winding can be reversed. A third way is to reverse the polarity of the load.

Answer to Question 2

Voltage from an ac generator can be increased by increasing the field current and hence the magnetic field ( B ), or by increasing the speed of the armature (v). If the

armature speed is changed, the output frequency will also change, so the best way to change the voltage is to change the field current.
