Answer to Question 1

Betz's law states that the highest theoretical efficiency a wind turbine can achieve is

59.3 for an ideal wind turbine. Wind turbine efficiency is the ratio of maximum power obtained from the wind to the total power available in the wind. Betz's law is important to wind turbine designers to understand the maximum power available in the wind.

Answer to Question 2

The power curve indicates how much power a wind turbine should produce for a particular wind speed. The maximum value from the wind power curve may be used for comparisons between different models.
