Answer to Question 1

On the first day of summer, the sun is at the latitude of the observer plus 23.4o at noon.

Answer to Question 2

For three series modules:

VTOT = (3 modules)(12 V/module) = 36 V

ITOT = PTOT/VTOT = 2 kW/36 V = 55.6 A total current to obtain 2 kW out. Number of 3 series modules in parallel = 55.6 A/4 A = 14 groups
The configuration consists of 14 groups in parallel; each group has 3 series modules for a total of 42 modules.
