Answer to Question 1

6000 kWh

Answer to Question 2

Flat-plate collectors: Flat-plate collectors have a copper pipe manifold in a tightly enclosed, tempered glass enclosure. The advantage is simplicity and low cost. The disadvantage is that water in the plate can freeze in cold weather unless the collectors are drained.

Solar heat pipes: Solar heat pipes are an efficient way to move heat without danger of freezing because they can use a heat transfer fluid that will not freeze (typically food grade propylene glycol). The disadvantage over flat plates is initial cost and additional materials including a heat exchanger.

Concentrating collectors: Concentrating collectors can produce very hot water or process heat for applications that require higher temperature water. In addition to initial cost, the collectors generally require tracking (to optimize output) and a heat transfer fluid that uses a heat exchanger to move heat to the water. The advantage is very hot water; the disadvantage is added expense and maintenance.

People who have myopia, or nearsightedness, are not able to see objects at a distance but only up close. It occurs when the cornea is either curved too steeply, the eye is too long, or both. This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition. Diet, eye exercise, drug therapy, and corrective lenses can all help manage nearsightedness.
