If the absolute magnitude, M, of a supernova is 19 and a galaxy is found that contains a supernova with an apparent magnitude, m, of 16 . What is the distance to the galaxy? Hint: dpc = 10(m - M + 5)/5

The proton-proton chain occurs at temperatures over 4 million Kelvin, and combines hydrogen to make helium.

The CNO cycle, which occurs at temperatures greater than 16 million Kelvin, results in the same product as the proton-proton chain. It is different than the proton-proton chain because carbon-12 begins the cycle and ends the cycle, and includes steps in which protons combine with carbon and nitrogen nuclei.
