Answer to Question 1

The Sun and planets make up only a tiny fraction of the volume of the Solar System, so it is relatively empty.

Answer to Question 2

A solar system consists of a star, or possibly a binary star system, surrounded by orbiting objects such as planets, asteroids, and comets. A galaxy is a collection of many millions or billions of stars, many of which are members of solar systems.
