Answer to Question 1

Optical astronomers try to map the distributions of visible associations of hot, young OB stars, emission nebulae, and open star clusters when visible in the disk. To get around the dust, radio observers use the 21-cm waves from neutral hydrogen, which can be observed and located all over the Galaxy.
