Answer to Question 1

TRUE

Answer to Question 2

The Sun's activity cycle is tied directly to its magnetic activity. At the beginning of the cycle, at solar minimum, there are few sunspots visible on the Sun and there are few solar flares and coronal mass ejections. As time passes, new sunspots form at higher latitudes. As magnetic activity increases, sunspots form nearer the equator and in greater numbers. Eleven years later, at solar maximum and the height of magnetic activity, we observe many sunspots, solar flares, and coronal mass ejections. As the formation of sunspots approaches the Sun's equator, the polarity of the Sun flips: the north magnetic pole becomes the south magnetic pole and vice versa. It will take another full eleven year cycle to flip the magnetic polarity of the Sun back to its original configuration, and this completes the 22 year cycle.
