A crane lifts a steel submarine (density = 7.8  103 kg/m3 ) of mass 20,000 kg. What is the tension in the lifting cable:
 
  (a) when the submarine is submerged?
  (b) when it is entirely out of the water?

Question 2

The diameter of the sun is 13.9  108 m, and the distance from the Earth to the sun is 1.5  1011 m. How long does it take for the sun to disappear after it touches the horizon?
