Answer to Question 1

With 45 members, the Local Group is about 1 Mpc across. All types are found, with most being dwarf ellipticals and irregulars. The two main members are M31 in Andromeda, and our own Milky Way, both big spirals around which most of the smaller galaxies cluster.
