Answer to Question 1

The essential features are: The laws of physics are the same everywhere, there is no absolute motion, and time is a separate dimension. In order for the laws of physics to be the same everywhere, the speed of light is a constant of nature. That means that it will always be the same independent of the motion of the source or observer.

Answer to Question 2

If less than 1.4 solar masses the final stage of a star's life will be a white dwarf. This forms as a remnant of a red giant which has blown off a planetary nebula. At 1.4 to 3 solar masses, the remnant will be a neutron star. This is generally the result of a Type II supernova explosion. Above three solar masses, the collapse produces a black hole.
