Answer to Question 1

One possibility is that we should see evidence in ancient material such as particular rocks or fossils that various parts of the land that we see today were in very different environments in the past, e.g., fossils indicating that parts of Antarctica were once very warm or that rocks on the top of mountains were once underneath the sea. Another prediction is that we could actually measure the drift of the continents with very precise measurements, and this is indeed now possible with modern technology.

Although the Roman numeral for the number 4 has always been taught to have been "IV," according to historians, the ancient Romans probably used "IIII" most of the time. This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
