Olympus Mons is the tallest (volcanic) mountain in the entire solar system. Explain how Mars can have mountains taller than the ones on Earth.

Due to Mars' smaller mass and, therefore, smaller gravitational field, mountains can grow to higher elevations without the gravitational force of the planet limiting its growth as much.
