The epoxy flywheel is still under development by commercial interests.

The Fort Lonesome and Terre Haute gasification plants were subsidized with public money. According to one observer quoted in Ref. 219, the company would have built the plant in any case.

Commercial firms do recognize the promise and opportunity.

Answer to Question 2

Pro (for example): The plants reduced pollution, which is a public good. Public
money is not inappropriate to use to achieve that goal.
Con (for example): Private funds used for private purposes should not be subsidized by the
government, especially when profits will accrue to private individuals or companies and not
be shared with the public entities that supported them.
