Why is the effect of neutrons on materials such as steel of concern in the design of fusion reactors using the deuterium-tritium reaction?

Answer to Question 1

As indicated above in Question 26, steel can become embrittled. This is a cause
for concern in terms of plant safety and reliability.

Answer to Question 2

As a statement this is ultimately true. If renewable resources are available, they
may grow sufficiently to allow both population growth and growth in consumption for
some time. Ultimately, limits exist that will stop growth. The desire to sustain growth is, by
itself, not sufficient to assure that it occurs.
