Suppose reaction A involves the making of bonds and 22.5 J of energy, reaction B involves the breaking of bonds and 40.0 J of energy, and reaction C involves the making of bonds and 125.0 J of energy.

What is the overall A + B + C reaction energy? Is this an exothermic or an endothermic reaction? Explain.

Answer to Question 1

In making bonds, the total energy release was 22.5 J + 125 J = 147.5 J. This is
more than the energy supplied to break bonds, 40.0 J. Overall in this reaction, bonds are
made and net energy is supplied by the chemical system to the outside. This is an
exothermic reaction, because energy of 107.5 J = 147.5 J - 40.0 J can be extracted from
the system when the reaction occurs.

Answer to Question 2

It would be hard to call it unnatural, because it does occur in nature without
any human interference. It is true, however, that humans can increase or decrease the amount
of ozone compared to what would have been the case. in nature free of humans' effects

Although the Roman numeral for the number 4 has always been taught to have been "IV," according to historians, the ancient Romans probably used "IIII" most of the time. This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
