What basic thermodynamic law applies to Question 5?

A battery has some internal resistance. Can the terminal voltage exceed the emf?
  1.No.
  2.Yes, if the battery is absorbing energy by electrical transmission.
  3.Yes, if more than one wire is connected to each terminal.
  4.Yes, if the current in the battery is zero.
  5.Yes; no special condition is required.
