In dating a mineral, what is meant by resetting of the mineral's time clock?
 
  What will be an ideal response?

Question 2

In a sequence of rock layers we find trilobite and dinosaur fossils. The dinosaur fossils are at the bottom of the rock sequence and the trilobites are at the top. This sequence tells us that
 
  A) dinosaurs are older than trilobites.

Answer to Question 1

Answer: The time clock can be reset if the mineral is heated during a metamorphic event. The date obtained from that mineral may be the date of the metamorphic event, not the original age of the mineral.
