Answer to Question 1

Answer: Sand dunes form when airflow is blocked by an obstacle such as a rock or clump of grass. As the wind sweeps over this obstacle, wind speed decreases and sand grains fall out of the air and are deposited in the wind shadow. As more sand falls, a mound forms which further blocks the flow of air. With more sand and more wind a dune forms.

Answer to Question 2
