Answer to Question 1

Answer: Quartz sandstone is predominantly composed of well-rounded, well-sorted sand particles. Because most of the sand particles are of the same size, the spaces between the sand particles are open and well connected. As such, water occupies the open spaces and easily moves between the spaces.
