Answer to Question 1

Answer: B

Answer to Question 2

Answer: The transformation of sediments to sedimentary rock occurs in two ways: compaction and cementation. As the weight of overlying sediments presses down upon deeper layers, sediment particles are squeezed and compacted together. This compaction squeezes mineral rich water out of the spaces between sediment particles and acts as a cementing agent.
