Newton's second law is valid only in inertial reference frames.
 
  Indicate whether the statement is true or false

Question 2

Jane says that the magnitude of the torque exerted by a force of magnitude F is equal to the perpendicular distance from the axis of rotation r multiplied by F,
 
  while Jason insists that it is equal to the distance from the axis of rotation r multiplied by the magnitude of the perpendicular component of the force, F. Who is right?

They are both right. Both answers are equivalent to  = F r sin, where  is the angle between the force and the radial line.
