The nichrome heating element in an electric drier operates on 240 V and generates heat at the rate of 2.0 kW.

The heating element shorts out and, in repairing it, the repairman shortens the nichrome wire by 10. (Assume the temperature is unchanged. In reality, the resistivity of the wire will depend on its temperature.) What effect will the repair have on the power dissipated in the heating element?
  A) The power increases to 2.2 kW. B) The power is still 2.0 kW.
  C) The power decreases to 1.8 kW. D) None of the given answers is correct.

Question 2

A beam of electrons is accelerated through a potential difference of 1.0 kV before entering a velocity selector. If the magnetic field of the velocity selector has a magnitude of 0.010 T,

what magnitude of the electric field is required if the electrons are not to be deflected as they pass through the velocity selector? ((e = 1.60  10-19 C, melectron = 9.11  10-31 kg)
  A) 5.9  103 V/m
  B) 6.0  105 V/m
  C) 7.2  106 V/m
  D) 1.9  105 V/m
  E) 1.1  105 V/m

Nearly all drugs pass into human breast milk. How often a drug is taken influences the amount of drug that will pass into the milk. Medications taken 30 to 60 minutes before breastfeeding are likely to be at peak blood levels when the baby is nursing.

Liver spots have nothing whatsoever to do with the liver. They are a type of freckles commonly seen in older adults who have been out in the sun without sufficient sunscreen.

Chronic necrotizing aspergillosis has a slowly progressive process that, unlike invasive aspergillosis, does not spread to other organ systems or the blood vessels. It most often affects middle-aged and elderly individuals, spreading to surrounding tissue in the lungs. The disease often does not respond to conventionally successful treatments, and requires individualized therapies in order to keep it from becoming life-threatening.
