1. BeginningThe aim is for the therapist to understand the clients existential position. The counselor enters the phenomenological world of the client.
2. MiddleThe counselor helps the client make use of material from within him or herself to identify meanings, purposes, and values.
3. EndThe client accepts existential dilemmas and constructs ways to have an authentic life within the existential limitations.

 In social constructionism, meaning is constructed by an interaction between the individual and outside forces.
