When working with actively suicidal clients:
 
  A. Clinicians should focus on the positive things that are going on in the clients life and distract clients from talking about the negatives and hardships they face.
  B. Clinicians should not ask clients directly about possible suicidal intention because it could trigger suicidal behaviors by bringing up the topic.
  C. Clinicians should use empirically supported assessment tools to assess for risk factors, warning signs and protective factors.
  D. Clinicians should leave the client in the room and immediately get the advice of a supervisor or consultant.
