Counseling and therapy groups differ from other types of groups like growth and support in a couple of different ways, such as focus and purpose. While the same techniques may be used in each of these groups, the focus in counseling and therapy groups is on the individual concerns of members in an in-depth manner, and not generally on group process. In addition, the purpose of counseling and therapy groups is to help members resolve personal issues that interfere with their daily living.
