Answer to Question 1

Advantages to a leader participating in an exercise include helping the members get to know the leader better, evening out an odd number of people, or creating a certain effect that allows members to see more sides of an issue, such as playing devil's advocate. Disadvantages may include not being able to track group energy or monitor group activity as well and the potential for the group to focus too long on the leader's opinions, comments, or issues.
