Answer to Question 1

For exercises to be helpful and effective, they must be able to be understood by members and fit with the purpose of the group. When members are not able to understand the purpose of the exercise due to their age or level of sophistication, meaningful insight, awareness, or understanding is lost. Leaders should also consider a member's cultural background and whether or not an exercise is appropriate for members based on this so that they, too, benefit from the exercise.
