Answer to Question 1

The second session letdown occurs when the energy of the group differs from the first session to the second. Often, members are excited to get acquainted with other members during the first session, but are not ready to share at a deep level during the first or second sessions. Anxiety mounts and members may become more reserved or reticent to share. To prevent the letdown, the leader can anticipate that it might occur and prepare for the second session based on what he or she observed about the members and their interactions from the first session to create energy in the second session.
