Answer to Question 1

By and large, research is not being conducted on the training of group leaders or on the effectiveness of group work. The authors and the literature cited suggest that there are several reasons why people are not conducting group research, such as lack of money, time, and interest. More research is encouraged in exploring how group content and process work and with which populations it is most beneficial. The authors call for more research to be done with populations of prisoners, school children, and addicted clients to evaluate the effectiveness of an actively led, theory-driven, multisensory approach.
