Answer to Question 1

Define inappropriate risk taking behaviors in adolescent groups. What might a group leader do to decrease such inappropriate behaviors? Use an example to illustrate your suggestion(s).
Inappropriate risk taking is when members share information too soon or reveal inappropriate information, often with the goal of impressing peers
A leader may use structured group exercises that help members understand themselves better, review rules, talk privately with the member involved, cut off the behavior, or redirect the behavior to the group

Answer to Question 2

In many non-developmental groups, which are often formed on a non-voluntary basis, a group leader often encounters resistance and reluctance. Describe different approaches a counselor might take in order to deal with this resistance and reluctance.
Start by listening to members' complaints
Meet with members before the group starts
Work with the resistance rather than fighting it
Respond to sarcasm with honesty, firmness, and caring statements
