 Group leaders can keep up with ethical codes by staying abreast of community, state, and national standards
 Leaders may grow as ethical counselors by participating in continuing education and supervision, and by doing legal homework before there is ever any legal difficulty

 First, group leaders should formulate the type of group they would like to lead
 Next, members should be recruited
 Finally, applicants should be screened one-on-one for appropriateness for the group
