Answer to Question 1
As a school professional describe some of the considerations one should acknowledge in the process of
assessment?
You need to involve families in gathering assessment information and in interpreting what is collected. You
need skills in translating assessment information into curriculum and instruction that meets your students'
needs rather than suit your own teaching preferences. You need to be able to choose a measurement unit that
will result in information that is meaningful. Finally, you need to select the right assessment strategy to meet
your assessment purposes.
Answer to Question 2
Briefly describe how the assessment process is beneficial to school professionals.
Assessment tells us what students want to know, what they already know, and what they need to know.
Through the assessment process, school professionals receive the information they need to choose the right
kind of curriculum for their students. Since assessment also helps to reveal how a student learns best and
what motivates a student to achieve, the assessment process also helps to define the kinds of instructional
approaches that will be most successful with students.
