Answer to Question 1

What are the limitations which impose upon some children's opportunities to learn?
Limitations may be imposed by conditions of poverty, abuse, neglect, and/or malnutrition. Neurological
functioning of the brain, cerebral palsy, deafness, mental retardation, autism, or any number of
disabilities may also impose limitations.

Answer to Question 2

According to research, how does learning occur?
Learning occurs as information is received, acted upon, and organized in relationship to what individuals
already know. It is a process of accommodation between what individuals know and how experience
transforms and expands their knowledge base and skills.
