Answer to Question 1

ANSWER: b

Answer to Question 2

ANSWER: Student responses may include the following:
(1) Self-management skills: One way to teach coping skills is to enlist students in their own treatment program. Self-management programs attempt to make students more aware of their behavioral problems and to increase their commitment to the elimination of negative behaviors and to the acquisition of constructive behaviors.
(2) Self-monitoring requires students to determine whether a target behavior has occurred and then record its occurrence.
(3) Self-evaluation asks the student to compare his or her behavior to some criteria and make a judgment about the quality of the behavior.
(4) Self-reinforcement means that a student rewards himself or herself with a token or tally after meeting a performance standard.
(5) Self-instruction is a method by which students can talk to themselves, encouraging themselves to persist in solving an academic or social problem.
