There are numerous unions in the entertainment industry. Some of the major entertainment related unions include the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) the National Writer's Union (NWU), and the Author's Guild. Entertainment unions organized to assert and expand wages and benefits. Their purposes also include protecting artists from unethical or improper activities by their representatives (including limiting the fees that talent agents can charge for their services and utilizing standard contracts), and conduct by employers such as production studios, for example.
