Freehold estates are forms of ownership which include present possession and ownership for an indefinite or unknown period of time. Freehold estates may have other conditions or limitations on the use or the possession of the property.
A non-freehold, or, leasehold estate is an estate in real property which has a definite time period and is limited to present possessory rights only.
