The select incorporation doctrine is a theory held by some jurists and legal scholars that maintains that only select portions of the Bill of Rights, which are deemed to involve preferred freedoms or rights implicit in the concept of ordered liberty, should be incorporated through the Due Process Clause and made applicable to the states.
