Kate Sandberg is preparing for her closing argument in the Synchromotive case. Winning the case depends heavily on the timing of various events in the development of both the Accelerex and Speedex devices. She needs to show that the basic ideas for the Accelerex were developed before Synchromotive came up with the concept for the Speedex. These events are established by dated memoranda from engineers and designers explaining the ideas, the dates on the plans and drawings, and the dates of the testing of the prototypes. The development of the Speedex is supported by a similar set of events and dated documents. How can Kate help the jury visualize the development of both products and easily make a comparison between the two? What tools can be used to dramatize the comparison?

What will be an ideal response?

Answer to Question 1

Kate can use software such as Time Map to create a comparative timeline to compare the development of both devices. With this software, each timeline can include annotations for each event that have a brief description of each event, along with thumbnails of images and diagrams. That way, as she talks about each event, she can direct the jury's attention to images that help them understand the significance of the event. For example, at the point in time that the engineers came up with the idea for the Accelerex, she could include a callout to the diagram of the design.

Chronic necrotizing aspergillosis has a slowly progressive process that, unlike invasive aspergillosis, does not spread to other organ systems or the blood vessels. It most often affects middle-aged and elderly individuals, spreading to surrounding tissue in the lungs. The disease often does not respond to conventionally successful treatments, and requires individualized therapies in order to keep it from becoming life-threatening.

They may be aware of their surroundings but unable to communicate or move. Neurologic monitoring equipment that helps to more closely check the patient's anesthesia stages is now available to avoid the occurrence of anesthesia awareness.
