How can a timeline be used in the preliminary stage of a case? What information would be included in the timeline?

Timelines are chronological listings of the facts of a case frequently presented in graphic form. At the early stage of a case, a comparative timeline can be used to present facts from the plaintiff and defense points of view, one on either side of a line, to analyze the case.
