Answer to Question 1

The glacial pressure of recurrent periods of glaciation helped smooth down the land it covered, making the topography of the region less hilly than surrounding areas. The glaciers also scored out many lakes and streambeds in the region and deposited a deep layer of sediment.

Ottawa is located in eastern Ontario, between Upper and Lower Canada.
