Secessionist minorities are religious groups that reject both assimilation and coexistence in some form of cultural pluralism. The Amish are one example of such groups that comes into conflict with outside society because of its beliefs and way of life. The Old Order Amish shun most modern conveniences and maintain a lifestyle dramatically different from that of larger society.
