2. Outline how northern abolitionists, except in parts of New England, supported gradual emancipation, and black abolitionists supported immediate abolition.
3. Explain that white abolitionists did not advocate for equal rights for black people.
4. Note that early northern abolitionist did little to bring about abolition in the South where most slaves lived.
