Answer to Question 1

Practice tasting as an alternative to only drinking - Making a conscious effort every time there is an opportunity to smell and taste something (whether it be food, candy, juice, water, etc.) allows additional possibility to shape one's senses. The ability to isolate and identify specific sensory characteristics can be challenging, but will develop with a conscious and guided effort through experience. Practice is the most important advice for any taster who chooses to make an informed and educated choice regarding the products they are experiencing. Maintain a tasting journal - Maintaining a tasting journal is one of the most effective methods employed by professional tasters used to develop their palate. Writing down impressions and associations of the different beverages assists in establishing an aroma memory and understanding the corresponding typicity associated with each drink.
