Answer to Question 1

Banquet tables can be arranged in several different configurations for dining, buffets, and elaborate food presentations. Some examples are as follows:

U  Shape  where several banquet tables are set to form the shape of the letter U, with chairs around the outside. The inside of the U is covered with table skirting or draped tablecloth reaching approximately 2 inches above the floor. This layout is often used for business meetings or discussions that immediately follow the meal service. Table Skirting is easy to install and is secured and held in place with clips, tape, or T-pins. The skirting is available in a variety of pleat styles and patterns. Valances that would attach along the top of the skirting can also be added for a bolder appearance, and are available in a number of styles.

Draped tablecloth is held in place with masking tape. Head tables and buffet tables can easily be draped with tablecloths. For a head table one tablecloth is draped over the front of the table reaching approximate 2 inches above the floor and secured with masking tape. A second tablecloth is draped in the usual manner. For a buffet table the

front and back of the table would each be covered and secured with masking tape, and toped with a third tablecloth draped in the usual manner.

Hollow Shape  where banquet tables are set to form a square or rectangle, leaving the center open. Both sides of the tables are covered with table skirting or draped tablecloth reaching approximately 2 inches above the floor. This layout is ideal for a formal buffet setting. The hollow center could accommodate a large ice carving. The carving would set in a pan on top of a skirted square table. A drain hose connected to the pan and attached to a 5-gallon bucket placed under the table to control the flow of water as the ice slowly melts. The base of the pan would be covered with parsley or other greens.

Answer to Question 2
