Some food distributors indicate that their delivery personnel will, at no extra cost, help to move in-coming products from receiving to storage areas.

While student answers to this question may vary, all students need to be aware that a fundamental principle of good product control in restaurants is the restriction of non-employee access to product storage areas. While utilizing delivery personnel to place delivered products in storage may seem like a good idea, such a practice opens the operation to the possibility of vendor theft. As a result, managers must carefully weigh the pros and cons associated with utilizing delivery personnel to move in-coming products from receiving to storage areas.

Suggestive selling is when a server takes a personal interest in helping guests get better acquainted with the menu choices, and to further enjoy their meal by having items suggested that would complement their selection.
